MISSION STATEMENT

Bilkent University Center for European Affairs was established to provide guidance for the university community’s participation in the European Commission's Framework Programmes and related actions, as well as to facilitate its involvement in exchanges funded through Socrates and other programmes of the EU, through a supply of expertise and know-how about the structure and procedures of these programmes.

The Center disseminates information about various research projects and exchange programs that might be of interest to Bilkent community, and tries to raise awareness about research and training programmes and the funding opportunities available. The Center works towards these goals by organising seminars, conferences and workshops, as well as creating on-line discussion groups for each thematic research area of the FP6, the current Framework Programme of research, and the other European Programs such as Socrates, Leonardo, Youth, Tempus, Culture 2000, and Media.

The Center views informing the academic and professional community outside Bilkent as part of its mission, and aims to maintain a reputation as a reliable source of information about the EU, its institutions and programmes for the society at large, particularly through its own web page at www.eucenter.bilkent.edu.tr and its sister on-line information service about the FP6, www.fp6.com.
